Source Pulsing via Transitions

Hello,

I am trying to turn a source on and off in SPIS, essentially by changing the current density from 0 to a positive value. However, I cannot figure out how to link my transitions table to the source density. Please let me know if anyone can provide any support.

For anyone else trying to pulse a source on and off using SPIS 6.1.0, I have figured out how to do it. The documentation in “Advanced uses for scientific applications” seems to be slightly incorrect. The main source should be set up in the group parameters with the current density and energy that you want, but in the Source1AxisymData file in your NumKernal input folder, the energy should be set to zero. The source that actually gets pulsed is sub source 1.1, which can be set with a current factor of 1 in the global parameters. The part of the documentation that did not work for me was the file name “TransientArtificialSource1.1.txt”. SPIS was not able to read this file. Instead, it worked when the file name was “TransientArtificialSource1.txt”. This file should also be in the Input folder in NumKernal. This file pulsed sub source 1.1. When I tried to do pulsing on the main source and not the sub source, the source would turn off but never turn on again.

I hope this helps others with the same problem and I’m happy to try and answer any other questions on this topic.

Hi Amy, thanks for troubleshooting these bugs. Hopefully at least the documentation can be fixed in a future release @atrouche? =)
