[Archive] Solar Array Interactor Model

Message by Alessandro Vicini:
I am trying to use the Solar Array Interactor model, as described in the User Manual Annex 2 - Advanced use for scientific applications.
I have the following questions:

  1. In order to activate the model is it also necessary to set InteractorFlag1 to 1? (in the manual only InteractorNb =1 is prescribed, no mention about InteractorFlag1)

  2. The first value in the Interactor1_SolarArrayDescriptor.txt file is the “effective area ratio”
is this to be intended as the ratio between the exposed interconnects surface and the total panel surface?

  3. Is the following a correct format for the Interactor1_SolarArrayDescriptor.txt file? It should represent a solar panel divided into 12 strings of cells.

  1. Effective area ratio

Hi,

  1. The effective area ratio is the ratio between the interconnects metallic surfaces and the surface of the panel. Generally it is something like 0.02 or 0.03.
2. Basis definition defines the reference frame of the panel. In your example, the panel is necessarily defined in the X-Y plane 3. The solar array points are defined in the reference basis so the first line indicates that the first point is at X = -0.7565-0.7565 in mesh reference model which is probably not what you want. The simplest settings is : Effective area ratio 0.0X Basis definition 0.0 0.0 -0.1800 --> you say that the panel is at Z = -0.18 but not changing the X-Y ref point 1.0000 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 1.0000 0.0000 Solar Array definition -0.7565 -0.5120 -0.0965 -0.4267 0.0000 37.8788 0.0000 -0.7565 -0.4267 -0.0965 -0.3413 25.0000 -37.8788 0.0000 etc

Thank you very much Jean-Charles, now the model seems to work.
I get a constant value of potential over the solar panel
is this what I should expect?

Message by Felicien Filleul:
Hi,
I dig up this thread because as Alessandro I can’t visualize the surface potential distribution implemented by the interconnectors model.
The model seems to works since I got interactor current as outputs. However, and this is my second concern, the outputs of the interactor model are labeled as “Emitted_current_A_versus_time_Interactor1_SolarArrayInteractor…” whereas they definitively should be collected ones.
Is there a subtle setting in the local parameters of the corresponding node or are those just bugs of the data miner ?
Thank you for your help.
