[Archive] Pure photo-electron emission

Message by Sanat Tiwari:
Hi all,
I am working with SPIS at various phase of validations with a goal to finally simulate the problem I am looking for.
I am trying to verify the sole effect of debris charging due to photo-emission in vacuum. Theoretically the result should reproduce 13,14 of SPIS report. It is keep increasing in time.
Can someone suggest possible reasons.

Hi,
charging by photoemission only may lead to different situations:

  • if you model only the pure emission (without recollection), the potential will continue growing. This is obtained when photoEmission global parameter is set to 1
  • if you model also recollection, the potential should be limited, but the tail of the photoelectron distribution should continue to slowly charge the object. This is obtained when photoEmission is set to 3. What SPIs report are yu speaking about ?

Thanks Dr. Jean-Charles Mateo-Velez,
I got the point. I was talking about a report titled “Development of a predictive discharge numerical model on solar panels - Final Report” I downloaded from the website.
