[Archive] Diference between Ground Potencial and Average Surface Potential

Message by Ignacio Rocca:
Hi all,
I am extracting results of my simulation and I need to know wich is the diference diference between Ground Potencial and Average Surface Potential. Can someone explain to me? Thanks
Ignacio

Message by Benoit Thiebault:
Hi,
The ground potential is the potential of the node 0. The average potential is the average of all nodes. If you have only one node defined (i.e. the ground), they are the same

Thanks and sorry Benoit but I don´t understand, I have for all nodes ground potential and Average surface potential vs time, wich kind of diference have?
Thank for your time
Ignacio

Hi, each material is treated as different node, with the reference node (ground) is node 0. if you have multiple nodes,i.e. many material on the surface of your spacecraft you will have node 1,2…n. ground potential is potential of the reference ground, and average potential is the average of all node combined. is it right Benoit?

Message by Benoit Thiebault:
That’s correct !
Thanks Abul

If you want more info on the subject, you can find it in the Doc folder of your SPIS installation : Doc/DocSpisNum/HowTo/Spacecraft%20circuit.html
