This happens because it cannot find the appropriate vtk binary.
What is your operating system ? Processor ?
SPIS should work anyway : you can do all your simulations without problem. It’s just Cassandra, the 3D viewer integrated with SPIS that won’t work. You can use Paraview as well to view vtk files.

I’ve been using SPIS in spit of the same message for a while, and indeed Cassandra works.
I think it just causes some freezes of Cassandra (but possible to solve by “shaking” it)
